Pathology API
A pathology API for Australia
Eirly Health is one REST API for ordering pathology and specialist tests in Australia and getting structured results back. Create a referral, receive a webhook, fetch normalised results.

What the pathology API does
Eirly Health, a trading name of Bloody Good Tests Pty Ltd, is an Australian company. Its platform lets a healthtech order tests from Australian laboratories through one integration, rather than building a separate connection to each lab.
The catalogue covers 250+ pathology and specialist tests, with 4,000+ collection centres across Australia. At-home kits exist in the catalogue too. Results come back as structured JSON, not only as a PDF.
What you can call
Referrals
Create, list, fetch, update and delete referrals. Commercial tests and Medicare tests can be ordered in the same request.
Results
Fetch a result by its identifier, or list results. Each biomarker has a consistent identity across labs and carries a canonical value alongside the lab's own.
Webhooks
Create, list, update and delete webhook subscriptions over REST, and look up past webhook events.
Bundles
Order a pre-configured set of tests by bundle, optionally extended with extra tests.
Collection-centre search
Find collection centres by location, nearest first, with opening hours.
Medicare provider records
Manage the Medicare provider records, including signatures, that Medicare referrals are ordered under.
One paging contract
Every list endpoint pages the same way, with a cursor, so one helper covers the whole API.
Staging environment
A staging (sandbox) environment with its own keys lets you build and test before production.
Order, then fetch
Ordering is a single authenticated call. The request below is illustrative: field names follow the Eirly Health docs, and the values are made up.
curl -X POST "$EIRLY_API_URL/v1/referrals" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer $ACCESS_TOKEN" \
-H "Accept: application/vnd.bgt.v1.1.0+json" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \

The response carries the referral status and, once results exist, a results identifier you use to fetch the result.
What comes back
Webhooks tell you something changed. They are notifications, and you fetch the result itself with one authenticated call. See the lab results API for what a result contains.

Labs behind the API
Eirly Health works with Healius (Dorevitch, QML, Laverty, Abbott and Western Diagnostic), Sonic Healthcare (Douglass Hanly Moir, Sullivan Nicolaides and Clinipath), Australian Clinical Labs, 4Cyte, NutriPATH, Microba and Fatty Acid Labs.
Eirly Health ingests the labs' HL7 result messages and returns structured JSON, so your team does not parse HL7 itself.
Read the HL7 pathology guide or the LOINC guide. The API's OpenAPI specification is public at api.eirly.health/v1/openapi.json.
Build with an AI coding assistant
Eirly Health publishes a public, read-only developer MCP server, so Claude Code, Cursor and Windsurf can read the API reference, schemas, webhook events and error codes while they write your integration. It needs no sign-up. About the developer MCP server.
Frequently asked questions
Yes. Eirly Health offers a REST API for ordering pathology and specialist tests from Australian laboratories and receiving structured, normalised results, with webhooks, bundles, collection-centre search and Medicare provider records. It has a staging environment with its own keys.
Create a referral through the API. When results are ready, Eirly Health sends a webhook notification, and you fetch the result with one authenticated call. Each biomarker has the lab's own value and a canonical value in one agreed unit, and the lab's report text is included.

Yes. A request can include Medicare tests, ordered under a practitioner's own provider number. Provider records, including signatures, are managed in Eirly Health first. Whether Medicare covers a test is decided by the collecting lab and the client's eligibility.
